Mr. Nichols has led Cinco Energy Services as Founder and President since 1990, and has been a growing force in the Energy Industry for the last 36 years.
After graduating from the University of Texas, Mr. Nichols served in the Air Force as a pilot. He was recruited from the Air Force by an energy company to become a Landman in 1976. After more than 14 years of honing his skills as a Landman, Mr. Nichols emerged as an entrepreneur by starting his own land business. His powerful combination of knowledge and leadership ability drove the business to success, and under his direction, Cinco Energy Services developed into the industry leader that it is today.
Mr. Nichols is currently the Chairman of the Technical Committee for the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL). In past years he has served on the Certification Committee, Field Landman Committee, and as Treasurer of the AAPL. He is a past President of the Houston Association of Professional Landmen (HAPL), and has also served as Director, 1st and 2nd Vice President, and Committee Chairman. In 2006 Mr. Nichols was the recipient of the prestigious HAPL Landman of the Year Award and in 2012 he was a recipient of the Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO) Best Landman Award. He is also a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences on land related issues, most recently speaking at the AAPL Annual Meeting in San Francisco. He currently holds memberships with the AAPL, Michael Late Benedum Chapter of AAPL, HAPL, Denver Association of Professional Landmen, American Association of Mineral Owners, Energy Landman's Breakfast Group, Houston Energy Finance Group and the Houston Producers' Forum.

Another element that distinguishes Cinco Energy Services is our dedication to continuing education. Many members of our staff have over 20 years of experience in the Land Industry, and we consciously position such tenured individuals to mentor those less-seasoned. They, in turn, “stand on the shoulders of giants” while breathing new life into projects by using cutting edge techniques to address problems and forge solutions.
This symbiotic relationship among our staff fosters a culture of growth and ensures that we are constantly educating one another. All of our professionals, whether they are Landmen, GIS Analysts, or administrators, regularly attend continuing education courses to obtain or maintain their certifications. Our wealth of experience combined with our keen willingness to learn and adapt results in constant forward motion.
